France & England to play friendly

Steve McClaren's England will travel to Paris to play France in a friendly on 26 March 2008.

Both countries will hope the game acts as a warm-up for the Euro 2008 finals in Austria and Switzerland next summer.

However, the Stade de France contest may not go ahead if the two countries are drawn together in the same group for the European Championship.

The last time the sides met was at Euro 2004, when two last-gasp Zinedine Zidane goals denied England victory.

England last played a friendly in the Stade de France in September 2000, Michael Owen's late goal earning Kevin Keegan's side a 1-1 draw.

In 26 games between the countries, England have won 16, drawn four and lost six, scoring 65 goals and conceding 32 in the process.
