Ibragimov ends Holyfield dream

Evander Holyfield failed in his bid to win a heavyweight world title for a record fifth time, losing to WBO champion Sultan Ibragimov in Moscow.

Ibragimov secured a unanimous points decision, with the judges scoring the contest 118-110, 117-111 and 117-111.

Holyfield, 44, was unable to match the 32-year-old Russian's counter-punching.

Ibragimov is now tipped to fight IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko, WBA title holder Ruslan Chagaev or Oleg Maskaev, who holds the coveted WBC belt.

Holyfield was aiming to upset the odds and also become the second-oldest ever heavyweight world champion after fellow American George Foreman.

The veteran's record is now 42-9-2, while Ibragimov improves to 22-0-1.
