Asif to miss Test series in India

Pakistan paceman Mohammad Asif has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series in India after failing to recover from his chronic elbow injury.

The 24-year-old has been struggling with the problem since the beginning of October and chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed said: "It's still an issue.

"He will go to Australia for a complete rehabilitation process in the hope he can return for the series after India."

Mohammad Sami, Faisal Iqbal and Danish Kaneria have been added to the squad.

The trio replace Imran Nazir, Fawad Alam, Rao Iftikhar and all-rounder Shahid Afridi, who will return home after the final match of Pakistan's one-day series in India on Sunday.

India have an unassailable 3-1 lead in the one-day series after winning the fourth match in Gwalior on Thursday.

Pakistan squad: Shoaib Malik (capt), Younis Khan (vice-captain), Salman Butt, Yasir Hameed, Mohammad Yousuf, Misbah-ul-Haq, Faisal Iqbal, Kamran Akmal (wk), Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul, Danish Kaneria, Sohail Tanvir, Mohammad Sami, Abdur Rehman.
