England line up Switzerland match

England will play a friendly against Switzerland at Wembley on 6 February, the Football Association has announced.

The match could be the first game in charge for the new England manager if Steve McClaren's successor has been appointed by then.

England have already agreed to play France at the Stade de France in Paris on 26 March but no decision has yet been taken on matches in the summer.

A friendly against Scotland remains a possibility but has not been agreed.

The FA may wait until they have appointed a new England manager before making a decision on the game.

The match against Switzerland will be the 20th time the two countries have met, with England winning 12, drawing four and losing three of the encounters.

The most recent meeting was a 3-0 win in Coimbra, Portugal, during the group stage of Euro 2004, when Wayne Rooney scored twice - his first England goals in a competitive fixture.

Switzerland have not played in England since a 1-1 draw in the opening match of Euro 96, when Alan Shearer was on target.
