Tottenham Hotspur will appeal against the red card striker Robbie Keane was given by referee Phil Dowd in the 3-2 loss to Birmingham at White Hart Lane. Keane had scored twice before he was red-carded by Dowd, who spoke to the fourth official over the Irishman's challenge on Frenchman Fabrice Muamba.
"I'm convinced it was not a red card," said Spurs assistant boss Gus Poyet.
"We know the referee asked the fourth official for his view but he was only a few yards from the ball."

"I didn't think it was a bad tackle," said Keane.
"It was just a collision. I'm not a malicious player. I'm disappointed, but most of all I'm disappointed we didn't get something out of the game."
If Spurs' appeal is unsuccessful the London team could be without top-scorer Keane for three matches.
