Tait back in Aussie one-day squad

Australia have recalled fast bowler Shaun Tait for the Chappell-Hadlee one-day series against New Zealand.

Tait took 23 wickets to help the Aussies win the World Cup in the Caribbean earlier this year.

And he has been preferred to Stuart Clark after recovering from surgery on his right elbow.

Ricky Ponting will lead Australia in the three-match series after being left out in favour of Michael Clarke for the Twenty20 match which precedes it.

Apart from Tait's return for Clark, the only other changes to the squad which won 4-2 in India in October are the return of batsman Mike Hussey in place of Brad Hodge and the omission of seam bowler Ben Hilfenhaus.

Hussey missed the tour because of a hamstring injury suffered during the ICC World Twenty20 tournament in South Africa.

"The side for the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy recognises the performances of the team during the ICC World Cup earlier this year and their continued success in October's one-day series in India," said chief selector Andrew Hilditch.

"The team produced very consistent performances during these two tournaments and played fantastic cricket."

Australia squad: R Ponting (capt), A Gilchrist, N Bracken, M Clarke, B Haddin, M Hayden, B Hogg, J Hopes, M Hussey, M Johnson, B Lee, A Symonds, S Tait.
