Portsmouth will be without Jermain Defoe (calf) and Lassana Diarra (ankle) although the club have been boosted by the news that neither requires surgery.

With his squad beset by injuries, boss Tony Adams may consider putting Defoe on the bench to make up the numbers.

Sol Campbell (toe) and winger John Utaka (hip) are also missing, while midfielder Sean Davis (flu) is a doubt.

Brazilian stars Ronaldinho and Kaka are part of Milan's 21-strong squad but both are likely to be rested.

Former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko is pushing for a starting place, as is fit-again Andrea Pirlo.

The Italian giants, who are without skipper Paolo Maldini, also look set to field former Arsenal pair Philippe Senderos and Mathieu Flamini.

Portsmouth (from): James, Johnson, Kaboul, Distin, Hreidarsson, Pamarot, Diop, Davis, Hughes, Belhadj, Mvuemba, A Traore, Little, Kanu, Crouch, Wilson, Defoe, Ashdown.
