England call up Khan and Rashid

Amjad Khan and Adil Rashid
Khan and Rashid now have the chance of a Test cap

Kent fast bowler Amjad Khan, 28 has been added to England's squad for the two-Test series in India.

And Yorkshire leg-spinner Adil Rashid, 20, will travel to Chennai but has not been officially added to the squad.

With the first match starting in Chennai on Thursday, the two newcomers have been promoted from the back-up performance squad while in Abu Dhabi.

Players will await a security report on India, due later on Sunday, before making any decision on whether to tour.

Amjad has been named as the official replacement for Ryan Sidebottom, who has endured an injury-plagued year and will play no part in India.

Sidebottom's Nottinghamshire team-mate Stuart Broad is not in the running for the first Test with a hamstring injury.

But as things stand he will fly directly from the UK to Chennai in an attempt to force his way into the side for the second match in Mohali.
