Andy Murray will finalise his preparations for the 2009 season alongside Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in Abu Dhabi this week.

The British number one, ranked fourth in the world, is one of six players taking part in an exhibition event at the Zayed Sports City from 1-3 January.

Nikolay Davydenko, Andy Roddick and James Blake complete the line-up, with Murray facing Blake on New Year's Day.

Murray, Federer and Nadal will start the ATP season in Qatar from 5 January.

Federer is keen to get the new year under way after a difficult 2008.

The Swiss struggled with glandular fever at the start of the year and went on to lose his number one ranking and Wimbledon titles to Nadal, and his Australian Open crown to Novak Djokovic.

"Looking back at the past 365 days a lot of unforgettable experiences come to mind," said Federer.

"But there are, of course, also the tough moments I had to go through. I faced an unexpectedly difficult training period and exhausting start of the season due to illness precisely 12 months ago.

"I spent a great deal of the year battling with the lack of practice and hours of training that I faced at the time."
