Sale have been forced into a late change ahead of the Heineken Cup match with Montauban after Scotland flanker Jason White was ruled out.

Carl Fearns takes White's place on the blind-side while David Tait is now among the replacements.

Mathew Tait is named on the bench after treatment for a dead leg with Andy Tuilagi starting in his spot.

Dwayne Peel is named at scrum-half while England prop Andrew Sheridan is on the bench after international duty.

Sharks can go top in Pool One if they win in Stockport.

But the game follows the news that Philippe Saint-Andre has resigned from his director of rugby role at Sale, and will stand down when the season ends.

It has been announced ahead of Friday's match that Saint-Andre will be succeeded by current head coach Kingsley Jones.

Sale rugby director Philippe Saint-Andre: "We have had two good results, back to back, with wins over Wasps and Leicester.

"We are now keen to do well against Montauban and next week in the return game.

"Although we lost to Munster we picked up a valuable win and bonus point with our win in Clermont and we are looking to qualify for the quarter-final stages.

"It will be tough though as Montauban ran both Munster and Clermont very close and we are expecting a very physical game."
