England's SA tour dates announced

Newlands Cricket Ground
Table Mountain will provide the backdrop for the New Year Test in Cape Town

England will play four Test matches, five one-day internationals and two Twenty20 matches when they tour South Africa next winter.

The tour includes Tests in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg.

The series starts on 10 November with a 20-over match against South Africa A, then England will play Twenty20 matches on 13 and 15 November.

That will be followed by the ODI series from 20 November, with the first Test set for 16-20 December in Centurion.

"We are grateful to colleagues and friends in South Africa," said England managing director Hugh Morris.

"They have worked with us to provide an exciting and well-balanced tour.

"It makes good sense to start with the ODIs given the schedule of cricket that we have in September, October and November 2009.

"The four Test matches are scheduled for iconic grounds and I am sure that thousands of England supporters will be looking forward to spending their Christmas and New Year holidays following the team," he added.

England last toured South Africa in 2004-2005 when Michael Vaughan's side won the Test series 2-1, a result which was reversed by South Africa when they toured England last summer.
