It's good news for a Briton in Melbourne
Laura Robson
2342: And Robson being Robson, a Brit-Up graphic is never far away. She immediately breaks the Croat and will serve for the first set next.

2339: A close shave for Robson, who faces the first break-point of the match on serve at 3-4 before winning three points in a row to save. I haven't got pictures of this match, in case you were wondering about the lack of description...

"Come on Chris, keep up with Laura. With her and Heather left to fly the flag, we have to savour it before they get to the WTA Slams and we dont see them past the first round!"
'pottiella', 606er, via text on 81111

Apologies for the slightly slow updates but my computer is suffering from nerves and freezing on the big occasion. Got to disagree with Pottiella, though, as I've got high hopes for both Heather and Laura.

2331: Robson and Djiric are still with serve in the first set at 3-3. Could be a bit of a battle that.

By the way, I should tell you that UK viewers can watch Nadal v Simon on the Red Button or on this website, or listen to it on BBC 5 Live sports extra.

2329: Coming up later we have got the last two women's quarter-finals. Fourth seed Elena Dementieva is up first, against surprise package Carla Suarez Navarro, followed by Svetlana Kuznetsova's match with second seed Serena Williams.

After that, the men take centre stage - Andy Murray's conqueror Fernando Verdasco takes on last year's finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga before world number one Rafael Nadal meets France's Gilles Simon under the floodlights at 0830 GMT.

It's good news for a Briton in Melbourne
Heather Watson
2323: Straight after Robbo's match, we've got another girls' singles match on the same court, and another Brit. Yep, ninth seed Heather Watson, 15, from Guernsey, who plays Miyabi Inoue of Japan.

It's good news for a Briton in Melbourne
Laura Robson
2320: The heat got to Djoko but our very own Laura Robson is not letting a bit of sun affect her. She is in action right now, actually, taking on Silvia Njiric of Croatia on Court 21 for a place in the last eight of the girls' singles. That match has just started and is 2-2, with serve, in the first set.

The sun is out again in Melbourne
2317: Temperatures have reached 40C at Melbourne Park in the last few days. Hot enough to fry an egg on the baseline? Probably. Hot enough to fry the defending champion? Definitely.
Djokovic defends decision to quit

2315 GMT: Right then. It's day 10 at the Australian Open and things are, erm, hotting up. Just ask Novak Djokovic...
