Emerton to miss Blackburn run-in

Blackburn's Brett Emerton has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering cruciate knee ligament damage, reports BBC Radio Lancashire.

The 29-year-old midfielder was injured during Rovers' goalless draw at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

His injury leaves manager Sam Allardyce short of options on the right side of midfield ahead of Wednesday's FA Cup replay with Sunderland.

New signing El-Hadj Diouf is cup-tied, while Keith Andrews is a doubt.

Andrews was also injured at the Riverside, suffering a gashed leg while blocking a Tuncay shot.

He limped off in the first half as Rovers were held at Boro.
