Jo completes Everton loan switch

Jo
Jo has not started a Premier League game for City since 20 October

Everton have signed Manchester City's Brazilian striker Jo on loan for the rest of the season.

The 21-year old arrived at Eastlands from CSKA Moscow in July 2008 for an undisclosed fee that could rise to £18m but has failed to settle at Eastlands.

He has scored three goals in 18 games for City but has not started a Premier League game since 20 October.

Injuries have left Everton short of strikers, forcing midfielder Tim Cahill to play up front in recent weeks.

Ayegbeni Yakubu, Louis Saha and James Vaughan are all still sidelined and, despite Jo's recent lack of goals, Everton boss David Moyes still sees him as the right man to bolster his depleted attacking options.

The 6ft 3in forward, whose full name is Joao Alves de Assis Silva, scored 44 goals in 77 games for CSKA Moscow.

But he has struggled to adjust to the Premier League and has not found the net in any competition since scoring in City's 6-0 rout against Portsmouth on 21 September.
