Shane Mosley wants to face the winner of the upcoming fight between Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao before taking a rematch with Miguel Cotto.
Mosley is weighing his options after beating Antonio Margarito to win the WBA welterweight title in January.
Britain's Hatton and Filipino Pacquiao face each other in Las Vegas on 2 May.
"The only three fights out there right now are Pacquiao, Hatton and Cotto. I'd want Pacquiao or Hatton first," said three-weight world champion Mosley, 37.
"I feel like I have about four more years of fighting left, so I don't care how long I have to wait."
Puerto Rican Cotto defeated Mosley at Madison Square Garden in November 2007 but then lost to Margarito in July 2008 in what was his first professional defeat.
Mosley stopped Margarito in the ninth round of a bout hit by controversy.
A plaster-like substance was found wrapped around Margarito's hands moments before the fight, and his boxing licence was subsequently suspended in California for at least a year.
