McManus could be a key figure in Amsterdam
|
Scotland manager George Burley has refused to rule Celtic captain Stephen McManus out of Saturday's World Cup qualifier against the Netherlands.
McManus will have a scan on the ankle injury that kept him out of the Scottish Premier League draw against Dundee United.
The defender is due to meet up with the Scotland squad on Monday evening.
Scotland manager George Burley said: "I knew he wasn't going to be playing at Tannadice but he's not definitely out."
Burley is already facing defensive problems with Tottenham Hotspur right-back Alan Hutton not match-fit and his Rangers counterpart Kirk Broadfoot struggling with a foot injury that kept him out of his side's 2-2 draw at home to Hearts.

The national boss also has a big decision on who to play in goal in Amsterdam with Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon again left on the bench as his club lost to Manchester City on Sunday.
"We'll have a roll call on Monday and see who's fit. Our medical people will assess the situation," Burley added.
Following the 2-2 Tannadice draw, Celtic manager Gordon Strachan revealed that McManus would be allowed to prove his fitness ahead of the clash in the Amsterdam ArenA.
"He's going to turn up and he's going to give it his best shot," he told BBC Sport.
"He might have to wait until a couple of days before the game but he'll try, so of course he's reporting for duty."
