Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross and Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake have pulled out of England's Under-21 squad for the matches with Norway and France.

Shawcross, who was only called up on Monday in place of Steven Taylor, and Ebanks-Blake are both injured.

Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor, 22, who has won two full England caps, has been added to Stuart Pearce's squad after having a slight knock assessed.

Portsmouth full-back Martin Cranie is another late addition to the squad.

Cranie, 22, has been capped nine times by the Under-21s since making his debut in a friendly against Romania in August 2007.

Agbonlahor started in the 2-0 defeat by Spain in February, but since then he has suffered a dip in form and has not scored in seven games for Villa.

He was recently jeered by his own supporters, leading to Villa boss Martin O'Neill defending the striker.

Pearce called up Shawcross after Newcastle's Steven Taylor was injured in the Magpies' 3-1 defeat by Arsenal on Saturday. Pearce had already seen Theo Walcott withdraw because of injury, while Tottenham's Aaron Lennon was called up to the senior squad.

Friday's game is in the Norwegian town of Sandefjord, while England entertain France at Nottingham Forest's City Ground on Tuesday, 31 March.
