Northern Ireland defender Jonny Evans believes the team must follow-up the win over Poland with victory in their World Cup qualifier against Slovenia.

Evans scored in the 3-2 weekend success and confidence in high going into Wednesday's game at Windsor Park.

"The result against Poland will be a waste unless we get three points against Slovenia," he said.

"It's a big game and there's nothing bigger that qualifying for the World Cup finals with Northern Ireland."

Northern Ireland top Group Three and Evans hopes he can add to his goal tally in front of the Windsor Park faithful.

He added: "On a personal level it was great to get that goal - I hope to get a few more now.

"They beat us earlier in the qualifiers although we were comfortable until we switched off near the end of the game.

"Playing at home is a big factor for us, it definitely helps and it something we have to take advantage of.

"At Windsor Park there are also little bobbles which help," joked Evans, referring to the third goal on Saturday when Michal Zewlakow's backpass bobbled past Poland keeper Artur Boruc.
