Former world number one Juan Carlos Ferrero ended his five-year wait for a tournament win with victory in the Grand Prix Hassan II in Casablanca.

The unseeded Spaniard, who won the French Open in 2003, beat fifth seed Florent Serra 6-4 7-5 for the 12th singles title win of his career.

Ferrero broke Serra six times on his way to his first win since the Madrid Masters in October 2003.

Serra had been chasing his first title since winning in Adelaide in 2006.
