Pakistan have recalled fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar for the upcoming one-day series against Australia.

Shoaib had been sidelined with a knee injury but was named in a 15-man squad after passing a fitness test.

Pakistan play Australia in five one-dayers and a Twenty20 match in Abu Dhabi and Dubai from 22 April-7 May.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan selectors have included three suspended players in a provisional 30-man squad for the ICC World Twenty20 tournament in June.

All-rounder Abdul Razzaq, batsman Imran Nazir and fast bowler Rana Naved were all suspended from international duty by the Pakistan Cricket Board because of their participation in the unauthorised Indian Cricket League (ICL).

"If these players are cleared by the ICC [International Cricket Council], only then we will consider them when we finalise the squad of 15 next month," said chief selector Abdul Qadir.

All players competing in the ICL have been suspended by their respective cricket boards but their futures will be discussed when the ICC's executive board meets in Dubai later this month.

On Akhtar, who has also been included in the ICC World Twenty20 squad, Qadir said: "Shoaib has put in a lot of effort during the fitness test and has also played domestic cricket. The medical panel was satisfied with his fitness."

The series with Australia is being played in a neutral venue after Australia refused to tour Pakistan because of security concerns.
