Former Tottenham boss Martin Jol is to become head coach of Dutch giants Ajax after agreeing a three-year contract.
The 53-year-old quit German club Hamburg to succeed Marco van Basten, despite being linked with a return to the Premier League with Sunderland.
"Ajax have given me a great chance, with long-term perspective," he said.
"I get a wide array of responsibilities and I very much want to get started. I am delighted to come home after several years abroad."
Ajax held talks with Morten Olsen and Co Adriaanse, who both had previous spells in charge of the club, and former Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard before offering the job to Jol.

"He has worked in the Netherlands and abroad with big clubs and average clubs, and proved he can get the maximum out of players," said chief executive Rik van der Boog.
Jol, who began his coaching career with Twente Enschede and moved on to RKC Waalwijk before joining Tottenham in 2004, will be in charge of transfer policy and the youth set-up as well as the Ajax first team.
But his main mission will be to win the Eredivisie title for the first time since 2004 and try to re-establish the team as a force in European competitions.
Ajax have won the European Cup on four occasions but have not played in the Champions League since 2005-06.
