Martin Laird will compete at his first Open in July only 45 minutes away from where he grew up in Glasgow.
The 26-year-old secured a place at Turnberry after making it through the American qualifier in Texas on Monday.
Laird shot rounds of 67 and 65 to share third spot with Davis Love III, James Driscoll, Fredrik Jacobson, Richard S Johnson and Tim Wilkinson.
Matt Kuchar led all qualifiers on 13-under par at Gleneagles Country Club, with Jeff Overton two shots behind.
"I've never even played a professional event in Scotland - this is going to be great," said Laird, who stayed on in the USA after studying for a marketing degree in Colorado.
Love III secured a spot in his 23rd consecutive Open after matching Laird's 10-under total.
"I just want to play there," said the former PGA champion and Ryder Cup regular. "It's the biggest and oldest golf tournament in the world.
"It's my favourite major - the way they set up the course and the tradition. It's certainly the one where I feel like I have a real good chance to be competitive."
However, Jesper Parnevik, who lost by one shot to Nick Price when the Open was last at Turnberry in 1994 after standing on the final tee three clear, missed out on qualification by two strokes.
The 44-year-old Swede, who followed up an opening 64 with a 70 in Texas, bogeyed the last hole 15 years ago and was pipped when Price finished birdie-eagle-par.
