By Jonathan Stevenson

1945: Barca are first to every stray ball at the moment and the Bernabeu crowd has fallen a little silent. Big task for Juande Ramos at the break - but Real would take getting to the break at 3-1 right now.

1942: Oh by the way, we've still got six minutes left of the first half. I know.

Yellow card

1941: Barca captain Carles Puyol is booked for a lunging challenge on Sergio Ramos. Some people never learn. It might not end 11 v 11, this one.

From stirydka1 on 606: "As a Chelsea fan watching this game makes me scared... no, terrified."

Goooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal

1938: GOAL Real Madrid 1-3 Barcelona
Kamikaze defending - what the hell was Lassana Diarra doing? He is robbed by Xavi in his own half and it breaks kindly for Lionel Messi, who runs through and pokes the ball with that delicious left foot of his past Iker Casillas.

1937: Lionel Messi cuts in from the left and drags a right-foot shot a couple of yards of the near post. Sometimes, watching this Barca team is like being in a dream.

From Theo, university computer room, via text on 81111: "My team (Lazio) are at the San Siro tonight, but even that isn't enough to stop me watching one of the greatest games ever!"

1935: Lionel Messi tries to score a ludicrous goal from out by the left byeline, but Iker Casillas plucks it away from the top corner.

1934: Lassana Diarra picks out Raul on the edge of the Barca box and he spins quickly and volleys a couple of yards over the bar. Defenders? Anywhere? No? OK.

1932: Thierry Henry is struggling a bit down that Barca left. Good news for Chelsea, perhaps.

1931: Nearly a goal of sheer perfection - but will they regret an extra pass? Lionel Messi plays a gorgeous pass to find Andres Iniesta in the box and instead of shooting, he passes square for Messi, who sees Iker Casillas save his shot. They really are trying to score the perfect goal, but isn't it too early?

From Zippy, George and Bungle on 606: "This game is just non-stop footballing poetry. Great saves. Great goals. Great game."

1929: Xavi tees up Samuel Eto'o on the right-hand side of the Real area and he is all power, a fierce drive brilliantly pushed over by the very, very busy Iker Casillas.

Yellow card

1926: Should be 1-3. Lionel Messi has a brilliant chance to extend Barca's lead as he races through on to Daniel Alves pass, but he opts for power and Iker Casillas stands up to make the block. Meanwhile, Sergio Ramos is booked for an earlier foul on Thierry Henry.

Yellow card

1925: Barcelona's Eric Abidal is being tormented by Arjen Robben and he brings the Dutchman down by appearing to lead with an elbow, which results in the first booking of the game.

1924: Are there any defenders on the pitch? Gonzalo Higuain plays a reverse pass in for Arjen Robben and his low shot is saved by the legs of Victor Valdes. Moments later, Daniel Alves diverts Higuain's right-wing cross goalwards and Valdes is in the right place to spare his team-mate's blushes.

Goooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal

1922: GOAL Real Madrid 1-2 Barcelona
That's how to respond to going a goal behind. From the free-kick that Fabio Cannavaro conceded, Real show they are equally as rubbish as Barca at marking - Xavi's cross finds Carles Puyol all on his own and his 12-yard header finds the far corner with Iker Casillas nowhere. Wow.

1922: Fabio Cannavaro shoves his right arm in the face of Thierry Henry - the former Arsenal striker is having an absolute field day right now.

Goooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal

1920: GOAL Real Madrid 1-1 Barcelona
This is such a good game already, my computer just crashed. Barca fancy breaching this Real offside trap and they get it right this time, Lionel Messi lifting the ball over for Thierry Henry to slot past Iker Casillas.

1918: Thierry Henry skips away down the left and his cross is just a fraction ahead of the stretching Samuel Eto'o.

1918: Now we're going to see just how good this Barcelona team is.

Goooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal

1916: GOAL Real Madrid 1-0 Barcelona
Well that's put the cat amongst the pigeons. Arjen Robben finds Sergio Ramos in an advanced position down the right and his cross finds Gonzalo Higuain unmarked, eight yards out - the Argentine heads into the bottom corner. Didier Drogba must be watching on very, very interested.

1916: Iker Casillas comes way out of his goal to prevent Lionel Messi latching on to a ball over the top and the Argentine catches the keeper in his challenge. Nothing nasty, though, and Casillas is OK. The tempo has slowed, ever so slightly.

From Eagleeeee on 606: "Higuain, when he starts to play his best, can influence a game of this calibre big time. He's answered the Madrid cries for help before this season, so don't count him out."

1912: Raul tries to slip in Gonzalo Higuain, but Gerard Pique gets across quickly and the danger is averted.

1909: Lionel Messi tees up Samuel Eto'o and the former Real striker curls into the arms of Iker Casillas from 22 yards.

From Kiya at the Bernabeu, via text on 81111: "El Clasico is a must for every football fan, if only to witness how much this means to these fans. Atmosphere couldn't get any better."

1906: Lionel Messi goes on his first mazy little dribble, from deep inside the Barca half. It's a statement of intent from the Argentine, who was kicked all over the shop in the reverse fixture.

1905: Arjen Robben is up for this - he's cheerleading the fans already. He skins the flat-footed Eric Abidal down the Real right and wins a corner, which eventually comes to nothing. Great work from the Dutch destroyer.

1903: Early mistake at the back from Sergio Ramos and Lionel Messi finds Xavi, who sees his 20-yard shot saved by Iker Casillas. Not gonna be boring, is it?

The sun is out

1903: Raul and Carles Puyol hug at the toss and Barcelona get us under way. Oh, and it's sunny too. What I'd give to be there.

1901: The teams are out and we're not far off getting under way in the absolutely majestic Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid. One of football's great amphitheatres.

From Jill, via text on 81111: "Real's run to keep in touch has been amazing. Barca to win 3-2 and prove that they are the team of our age - VAMOS LEO!"

From fourfootedchallenge on 606: "How harsh it would be if Barcelona lost out on both the Champions League and La Liga? However, I can see this turning into a bad week for them. Real to win 3-2."

1855: Oh, go on then. Stevo's Predo: Real 2-2 Barca

1854: Big news that Arjen Robben is back from injury for Real Madrid tonight - the former Chelsea flier has been brilliant at times this season and they will need him at his maverick best. He's Real's answer to Lionel Messi.

1852: I reckon we might just be in for an absolute classic on this barmy evening in the Spanish capital. Real absolutely must win, and Barca don't know any other way of playing. They both look awesome going forward and a touch ropey at the back - and for the neutral, that's really quite exciting.

From WalkHomeWalkAlone on 606: "Without Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Ruud van Nistelrooy, Real don't have a good enough striker to compete with the best."

From Jose, who will be watching this very closely, via text on 81111: "Real to win this one. The reborn Raul to shine tonight. Messi will go missing."

1842: It is 360 days since Barcelona formed a guard of honour at the Bernabeu as Real celebrated winning the title in front of their fiercest rivals. My, how things have turned full circle since then. Avoid defeat today, and a 19th league success is just about in the bag for Barca.

1840:Real Madrid v Barcelona line-ups
Real Madrid: Casillas, Ramos, Heinze, Metzelder, Cannavaro, Gago, Diarra, Robben, Marcelo, Raul, Higuain.
Barcelona: Valdes, Alves, Abidal, Pique, Puyol, Toure, Xavi, Iniesta, Henry, Messi, Eto'o.

1837: I implore you - don't leave El Clasico hanging. Give it your fullest attention and your most rapacious wit - by texting to 81111 and getting stuck in on 606. Don't put off until mañana what can be done hoy. You get me?

1834: We're taking a break from the English scene for a couple of hours - this one is all about the destination of the Spanish championship. Barca are four points clear with five games left, but a Real win today could just lead to the mother of all climaxes to La Liga's season.

1830: Hola amigos. 'El Clasico?' 'El Gran Clasico?' 'El Super Clasico?' 'El Derby?' Call it what you want, but club football does not get bigger than this. Welcome to the world of Spanish sport, where Real Madrid and Barcelona are kings.
