Beijing Olympic 400m gold medal winner Christine Ohuruogu has received her MBE from the Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace.
The 25-year-old athlete, who grew up in Stratford, east London, has been honoured for her services to sport.
Gill Hicks, 40, from Camden, north London, who lost her legs in the 7 July Tube bombings, also received an MBE for charitable services.
Both women became MBEs in the New Year Honours.
Ohuruogu took the 400m gold after returning from a 12-month ban in 2007 for missing three out-of-competition drugs tests.

She hopes to repeat her Beijing success at the 2012 Olympics in London and could be joined by her younger sister, 16-year-old Victoria.
Ms Hicks, who founded the charity M.A.D. for Peace following the terror attacks, was the last survivor to be rescued from the bombed Tube carriage in Russell Square.
She has worked as an ambassador for Peace Direct and supported the Leonard Cheshire Disability charity.
Ms Hicks also co-founded the Walk-Talk event, as part of a campaign to unite communities.
