South Africa forwards Schalk Burger and Bakkies Botha have been cited for alleged foul play in the second Test win over the British and Irish Lions.

The pair will attend disciplinary hearings in Pretoria on Sunday and could be suspended for the third Test.

Flanker Burger has been reported for allegedly making contact with the eye area of Lions wing Luke Fitzgerald.

Lock Botha was reported for a dangerous charge on Lions prop Adam Jones early in the second half.

Jones was forced off with a suspected dislocated shoulder after 44 minutes.

Burger should have been sent off - Phillips

Veteran Lions boss Ian McGeechan refused to be drawn on the actions of Burger.

"We've all seen it, and it's not up to me to judge. We weren't playing 14 so it's no good talking about it," said McGeechan.

"Presumably the citing officer will be having a very strong look at it and he will make a decision on the video evidence about what should happen next

"After the conversation between the touch judge and referee, I don't think there's be any doubt about that."

South Africa coach Peter de Villiers refused to condemn Burger's actions, insisting that the Lions should have had players off the field as well.

606: DEBATE

"I don't believe it was a card at all," he said.

"In the first minute already there had been a lot of needle and if you watch the whole game you will see how many yellow cards they were let off."
