Burnley in for Fletcher, say Hibs

English Premier League newcomers Burnley have made an approach to Hibernian for striker Steven Fletcher.

Clarets manager Owen Coyle has spoken to the new Hibs boss John Hughes, who will discuss the approach with chairman Rod Petrie on Monday.

Celtic have also been linked with a move for the 22-year-old, who has four years of his contract to run.

Hughes has previously stated he hopes Fletcher and captain Rob Jones commit their long-term futures to the club.

Fletcher has been vocal about his desire to further his career in England's top flight.

Celtic failed to land the striker in January, despite making what they described were "substantial offers" for the Scotland international.

At the time, Fletcher's agent said the player felt "let down" by Hibs after they blocked Celtic's attempts to sign him.
