Tiger Woods squandered a three-stroke lead midway into his third round at the PGA National on Saturday but held on to share the lead with Anthony Kim.

Woods fired a third-round 70 while defending champion Kim shot 68 to earn his first ever PGA pairing against the 14-time major winner on the final day.

Justin Rose was the best performing Briton with a third-round 69 to leave him seven shots off the lead in 22nd.

But Brian Davis (74) and Martin Laird (76) both struggled in round three.

Michael Allen, the 50-year-old who won the Senior PGA Championship in May, and fellow American Cameron Beckman shared third place on nine under par.

US veteran Jim Furyk and Australian Rod Pampling are a shot further back with US Open winner Lucas Glover on seven under.

Woods and Kim will be the final pairing at the Congressional Country Club in Maryland on Sunday.

"I'm looking forward to it. I'm excited," said Kim.

"This is a day I've been waiting for for a long time. I'm going to go out there and enjoy it."

The signs are ominous for Kim as tournament host Woods, seeking his 68th career crown, has won 44 of 47 prior US PGA events when leading or sharing the lead after 54 holes.
