Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce does not expect any consequences over the incident involving El-Hadji Diouf and an Everton ball boy on Sunday.
Merseyside Police interviewed the striker after an alleged racist comment during the game at Goodison Park.
But Allardyce said: "We haven't heard from the police and I don't expect to hear anything either."
Diouf now claims he was the target of racist abuse from Everton fans, which the club has strongly denied.
Responding to the initial allegation, the 28-year-old told Senegalese media: "I'm no racist" and made claims that Everton fans threw bananas at him.
But Everton insisted the Blackburn player was being investigated for alleged racial abuse of a 14-year-old ball boy - adding there was no police probe concerning banana-throwing.
Officers immediately scoured the area next to the pitch and in the stands but no bananas were found. No pictures have surfaced to back up his claim either.
An Everton spokesman said: "Our only concern is a child protection matter involving a 14-year-old boy. We have spoken to the police and have been told that is the only investigation they are concerned with and that they are not investigating the behaviour of any Everton supporter."

Everton won the match 3-0 but Allardyce, whose team responded to that setback to win their Carling Cup tie against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, sought to downplay events.
He said: "It's just the usual kerfuffle around Premier League football isn't it? We don't feel there's anything to answer."
Sunday's incident is thought to have been sparked when Diouf complained the ball was not thrown back into play quickly enough as he looked to take a quick throw-in.
He then suffered abuse from home fans and again when he went to take two corners in the area of the original incident. The ball boy later made an official complaint to police.
In 2003, Diouf was fined £5,000 for spitting at a Celtic fan during his spell at Liverpool and was fined £500 for spitting at a Middlesbrough fan while on loan at Bolton in 2004.
Allardyce managed Diouf at Bolton and in January signed him from Sunderland.
