Norwegian Edvald Boasson Hagen sealed overall victory in the Tour of Britain after Barloworld's Michele Merlo won the eighth and final stage in London.
The Team Columbia rider, who won four stages, maintained his advantage as Australian Chris Sutton moved up into second with German Martin Reimer third.
