Portsmouth came from behind to beat Carlisle and register a rare win which eases the pressure on boss Paul Hart.
Pompey's dreadful run of results looked set to continue when Ian Harte smashed home an early penalty following an Aaron Mokoena foul on Joe Anyinsah.
But a great strike from Aruna Dindane on debut and a Danny Webber header turned things around for the visitors.
Anthony Vanden Borre lost his marker to easily make it three but Carlisle can still be proud of a battling display.
No-one will be more pleased with the display than Hart, who has watched his side start the Premier League with a record-breaking six consecutive defeats.
His job is still anything but safe, but he will certainly be feeling more comfortable on the 300-mile journey back to the south coast than he did on the long trip north.
Another defeat had looked possible though when Harte converted the early penalty following Mokoena's needless foul.
The visitors attempted to hit back immediately and after Younes Kaboul had tried a speculative effort from range, John Utaka was unlucky to lift the ball over the bar from Hassan Yebda's lay-off.
The breakthrough came on 26 minutes as Dindane marked his first appearance in Pompey colours in style.
Utaka brought down a long ball and hooked it around goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley, leaving Dindane to simply tuck it away from just a few yards out.
Webber also bagged his first Pompey goal on 33 minutes - flicking Yebda's cross over Pidgeley and into the top corner to send the tiny band of travelling fans into raptures.
Peter Murphy dragged a shot across the face of goal after being picked out by a wonderful Harte delivery as the hosts pushed forward in much more positive fashion after the break.
But they were made to pay for their profligacy just after the hour mark when Dindane capitalised on an error in the hosts' defence and cut the ball back for Vanden Borre to lash home - becoming the third player of the evening to open their Portsmouth account.
