Portsmouth's Kanu and Papa Bouba Diop have both committed their futures to the Premier League side by signing contract extensions.

Nigerian striker Kanu, 33, who has scored 21 goals in 98 appearances, has agreed a new one-year deal.

Senegal midfielder Diop, 31, has extended his current contract until 2011, with the option of another year.

"It's great he's committed himself to Pompey," chief executive Peter Storrie told the club website.

Storrie added: "Papa wanted to extend his contract last season but he injured his knee so first we wanted to make sure he was fit and there were no problems.

"That's the case so we were keen to get him signed up."

Diop has been out injured with a hamstring problem he picked up in the match against Birmingham last month, but the Senegal international is set to return to full training ahead of the club's next fixture against Bolton on 12 September.

He has made 55 appearances for Pompey since signing from Fulham in August 2007.
