South Africa captain Graeme Smith should be fit for the start of the ICC Champions Trophy, despite pulling out of two practice games.
Smith had surgery in June to solve a long-standing tennis elbow injury.
He will miss two warm-up games against the Highveld Lions later this week but should return for another practice game against West Indies on 17 September.
"We expect him to return to full batting in 10 days' time," said South Africa physio Brandon Jackson.
"Graeme's elbow is healing well post-surgery. He is in week 11 of a structured 13-week return to a full activity programme.
"He is currently batting against tennis balls and against under-arm bowling with a cricket ball, together with intensive gym strengthening and boxing."
Smith first suffered the injury during the Indian Premier League in April 2008 but kept postponing the surgery in order to make himself available for a busy international schedule.
He played in South Africa's two recent series against Australia, finally going under the knife after the ICC World Twenty20.
Smith has already been named in South Africa's squad for the tournament, as well as the Cape Cobras' squad for the Champions League in India this October.
