Briscoe selected in England side

Hull winger Tom Briscoe is a surprise inclusion in the England side to face France in the Four Nations opener in Doncaster on Friday.

The 19-year-old only joined the squad on Tuesday as a late replacement for the injured Sean O'Loughlin.

Leeds Rhinos skipper Kevin Sinfield returns after being overlooked for the 66-12 win in Paris in June.

And clubmate Lee Smith, who will switch codes to join Wasps this winter, is also included in the side.

They are among eight players from Grand Finalists Leeds and St Helens added to the side by coach Tony Smith following the 48-12 victory over Wales in last Saturday's warm-up match.

Sinfield was man-of-the-match in the Super League showpiece and has a chance to prove a point after being dropped for the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand, England's last match in a major tournament.

Saints' 20-year-old utility back Kyle Eastmond scored all of his side's points at Old Trafford on 10 October and is set to make his England debut having being named amongst the replacements.

Salford scrum-half Richie Myler keeps his place after starring against France four months ago and Huddersfield hooker Scott Moore is also in starting line-up

But there is no place for Wigan half-back and Super League young player of the year Sam Tomkins, despite his man-of-the-match performance against the Welsh.
