The rivalry between Blair (l) and Cusiter will reach new heights
|
Scotland head coach Andy Robinson has announced that Mike Blair and Chris Cusiter will share the captaincy for the autumn Tests.
Edinburgh captain Blair and Glasgow Warriors skipper Cusiter will vie for the sole scrum-half position and the right to wear the armband.
Robinson said: "Leadership is not about one person, it is about developing a number of leaders.
"This year we're going to have two captains, two world-class players."
And Robinson, who has gathered the Scotland squad at St Andrews for a three-day training session, added: "Whichever one is selected will lead the team.
"But, off the pitch, the two will lead the team together."
Blair, with 58 caps, replaced Jason White as Scotland captain for the 2008 Six Nations match against Ireland.
Cusiter has 14 caps fewer and returned to join Sean Lineen's Warriors after a spell at Perpignan.
The Scots face Fiji at Murrayfield in the first of the autumn Tests on 14 November. Australia will visit the Scottish capital a week later before Robinson's side take on Argentina on 28 November.
