Denis Leamy has won 41 international caps with Ireland
|
Ireland and Munster forward Denis Leamy has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury at the weekend.
The 28-year-old back row player sustained the injury in the dying seconds of Munster's 37-14 win over Perpignan in the Heineken Cup.
Leamy was operated on in a Dublin clinic on Tuesday.
He will miss Ireland's Six Nations campaign and Munster's bid to secure a third Heineken Cup triumph.
Leamy picked up the injury in the last play of Sunday's game at Perpignan, in which Doug Howlett scored a try to clinch a bonus point for the Irish province.
The victory took Munster back to the top of Heineken Cup Pool One.
