Mauresmo may have hung up her racquet for good

Amelie Mauresmo is expected to announce on Thursday whether she has decided to retire from tennis.

The two-time Grand Slam winner, 30, chose not to compete in her final two tournaments of the season and there is speculation she may quit the sport.

The Frenchwoman won the Paris Indoor Open early in the season but struggled for form after that.

Former world number one Mauresmo was dumped out of the second round of the US Open by Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak.

The exit was her worst performance at the US Open and it is the last competitive match she played in.

Mauresmo, who has won the Australian Open and Wimbledon, is currently ranked 21st in the WTA rankings.
