Pakistan 161-6 v New Zealand
Match scorecard
Daniel Vettori took three of the five wickets to fall with his left-arm spin

New Zealand shrugged off the absence of paceman Shane Bond to reduce Pakistan to 161-6 on a rain-shortened opening day of the second Test in Wellington.
Skipper Daniel Vettori took 3-42 and Bond's injury replacement Daryl Tuffey 2-32, with a succession of Pakistan batsmen cut off in the 20s and 30s.
After opting to bowl first, New Zealand watched as Imran Farhat and Salman Butt put on 60 for the first wicket.
But three wickets fell in quick succession as Pakistan stumbled.
Play got under way more than two hours late after days of rain had left the ground conditions unsuitable, but the touring side's openers built patiently at the Basin Reserve until Iain O'Brien finally broke through in the 33rd over.
No longer bowling into the wind, O'Brien persuaded Butt to top-edge a rising delivery to Tuffey at mid-on.
Then Vettori made a critical double breakthrough with two wickets in three balls when Farhat edged a delivery to Ross Taylor in the slips and Yousuf was trapped lbw without scoring, playing for non-existent spin.
The exciting teenage prospect Umar Akmal, occupying the number three spot unwanted by the senior players, held together his end - but his quickfire 46 went largely unsupported.
There was a stand of 53 with Misbah-ul-Haq - both men hitting Vettori for six - but Umar fell to Tuffey when edging a delivery onto his stumps.
It was Tuffey's first Test wicket since June 2004 and he did not take long to claim a second when Shoaib Malik drove straight to Vettori at mid-off to leave Pakistan struggling at 131-5.
Misbah and Kamran Akmal added only a further 25 runs to the total when Vettori struck for a third time, trapping Misbah lbw as he attempted a slog sweep.
The 35-year-old asked for Simon Taufel's decision to be reviewed and it was upheld, bringing an end to his 51-ball innings of 21. Just two more overs were completed before bad light forced the teams from the field.
Pakistan had made three changes to the team which lost in Dunedin. Butt was in for Khurram Manzoor, Fawad Alam was axed for Misbah and leg-spinner Danish Kaneria replaced off-spinner Saeed Ajmal.
