Andy Murray and Laura Robson earned a place in the Hopman Cup final after they sealed a 2-1 victory over Russia in the decisive mixed doubles.

The British pair beat Igor Andreev and Elena Dementieva 6-4 6-7 7-6 to finish top of Group B and set up a final against Spain.

Earlier, Murray thumped Andreev 6-0 6-1 after Robson was beaten 6-4 6-0 by world number five Dementieva.

"I have to say thanks to Laura because she played great," said Murray.

"In the mixed, the guy is supposed to try to dominate and help the girl but every time I tried that we lost the point, so I left it to her after that."

Murray and Robson will now have to beat Spain's Tommy Robredo and Maria Jose Sanchez Martinez to win the title after the Spaniards beat Australia's Lleyton Hewitt and Samantha Stosur.
