Kleybanova had too much power for her Russian compatriot
|
Alisa Kleybanova beat top seed Elena Dementieva 6-3 6-2 in a rain-disrupted all-Russian final to claim her first WTA title at the Malaysian Open.
The match was only eight minutes old and tied at 1-1 when a torrential downpour brought play to a stop.
After the rain break the big-serving Kleybanova, 20, won the first three games as she seized control of the set.
She was equally in charge in the second, with Dementieva unable to claim a third title in five events this year.
