Berdych through to semis in Miami

Berdych won his only Masters title to date in Madrid four years ago

Tomas Berdych followed up his win over Roger Federer by fighting back to beat Fernando Verdasco in the quarter-finals of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.

The Czech player came through 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 to reach the last four of the Masters 1000 event.

Robin Soderling takes on Mikhail Youzhny in the last of the quarter-finals later on Thursday.

Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick are already through and will meet in the semi-finals on Friday.

Berdych had beaten world number one Federer in the previous round but looked to be on his way out 48 hours later.

Verdasco was in charge until Berdych finally got a break of serve midway through the second set.

The Czech held his nerve to edge it in a tie-break and came through a tense final set to win in two hours and 52 minutes.
