Colin Montgomerie blames party atmosphere for missed putt

Colin Montgomerie carded a first round 71 at the Spanish Open

Colin Montgomerie reacted furiously after a bogey at the Spanish Open, blaming loud music from a nearby tent for three-putting the final green.

Monty finished his round on the ninth, having also bogeyed the seventh, to leave him with a one-under-par 71.

He was told the music from the tented village had already been turned down.

"Should never have happened in the first place. Is this a party or a golf tournament?" he shouted at the tournament director Miguel Vidaor.

Montgomerie then declined to speak to waiting reporters after handing in his scorecard.
