1344:
Darren O'Dea goes into the referee's book for giving more than his tuppenceworth over that decision. Hibs can't profit from the free-kick after Riordan's initial effort is blocked and Celtic scramble it clear.
|
1343: Hibs are awarded a free-kick for Darren O'Dea's jersey tug on Colin Nish and this is a chance, about 20 yards out from Zaluska's goal.
1341: The ever-alert Aiden McGeady plays in Robbie Keane and the on-loan striker dinks the ball wide for... Georgios Samaras, but the hapless Greek had pulled out of his run. Eyebrows raised among everyone of a Celtic hue.
1340: "Hibs are getting more of the ball and are pushing Celtic further up the pitch," BBC Radio Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod
1339: Referee Charlie Richmond restores calm as Celtic defender Darren O'Dea and Hibs striker Colin Nish lock horns after a tussle for possession near the touchline. A quick ticking off and the ball's getting blootered again!
1337: "Both sides have been guilty of turning over possession too cheaply." BBC Radio Scotland commentator David Begg
1336: Neil Lennon throws down a water bottle on the touchline after watching captain Scott Brown fire a shot over the bar from inside the penalty area. If Celtic supporters were seeking an injection of passion following Tony Mowbray's troubled tenure, then they've got it...
1334: Celtic striker Georgios Samaras - thumb through your dictionary until you find 'enigma' - finds himself in a promising position wide on the right but he balloons the ball out for a goal-kick. Oh dear...
1333: Hibs break at speed and in numbers after clearing a Celtic free-kick but Liam Miller can't find a green shirt and Aiden McGeady scampers towards Graham Stack's goal but is eventually swamped by Hibs defenders. There's been no let-up in the pace of this fascinating contest.
1331: Celtic striker Robbie Keane appeals unsuccessfully for a penalty after Ian Murray appeared to handle in the box but, with a shake of the head, referee Charlie Richmond's having none of it.
1330:
From BoogieBear On My Sport:
"Celtic got a corner that should clearly have been a goal-kick for Hibs. Bur fortunately Josh Thomson cleared it." Ah, I see what you did there...
|
1329: Celtic are probing, looking for a gap in this Hibs defence and they look transformed under caretaker boss Neil Lennon.
1326: Robbie Keane picks the ball up deep in Hibs territory and Celtic force a corner as Ian Murray blocks Scott Brown's cross. But Josh Thompson thunders a shot over the bar from Lee Naylor's corner, from about eight yards out.
1325: Georgios Samaras, who scored the winner the last time these two sides met at Easter Road in the league, runs at Ian Murray and speeds past the full-back but the galloping Greek can't control the ball and it trundles out for a goal kick.
1323: Play rages up the other end and Sol Bamba slides in to thwart Marc-Antoine Fortune just as the striker was about to pull the trigger. It's still goalless but a superb opening 10 minutes in the Scottish capital.
1322: Hibs should be in front: midfielder John Rankin feeds Anthony Stokes as the Irishman springs Celtic's offside trap but he delays his shot and his eventual effort is parried by Zaluska before Scott Brown hammers the ball clear.
1321:
From AndyPowellsGolfCart On My Sport:
"2-1 Celtic, Rasmussen will come on in the last 20 minutes to score the winner. Yes, he will come on for Samaras."
|
1319: Celtic fail to clear the corner and Sol Bamba's hook shot on the turn sails over the bar but that was a chance for Hibs, who look fired-up after their midweek mauling by Dundee United at this very ground.
1318: Riordan lines up a free-kick about 30 yards out and his cross is headed towards goal by Ian Murray but Lukasz Zaluska flicks it round the post for a Hibs corner.
1317: Former Celtic striker Derek Riordan runs at Andreas Hinkel but the German right-back is equal to the task and the visitors snuff out the danger - I can't see this one finishing goalless...
1316: Hibs defender Sol Bamba heads clear after Aiden McGeady tried to find Robbie Keane with a long diagonal into the box; a bright start at Easter Road.
1315: Hibs get the first half under way.
1313: Georgios Samaras headed the only goal of the game the last time Hibs and Celtic met at Easter Road on league duty, and the visitors had Aiden McGeady sent off.
1310:
From Beaters of Barca On My Sport:
"From a Dundee United point of view the best result for Celtic v Hibernian is a 0-0 draw so we can go on and clinch 2nd place!"
|
1309: "It's a difficult pitch and the games here are historically very tight," Celtic caretaker manager Neil Lennon
1306: Lukasz Zaluska starts in goal for Celtic as regular number one keeper Artur Boruc is left out because of a family bereavement in the only change to the side which saw off Kilmarnock last week.
1305: Hibs manager John Hughes makes two changes to his team which lost 4-2 to Dundee United in midweek, Lewis Stevenson drops to the bench and Chris Hogg is left out altogether as Anthony Stokes and Darren McCormack start.
