Sheffield Wednesday's Jermaine Johnson may retain his place up front after recovering from the hamstring problem that forced him off at Cardiff.
Midfielder Tommy Miller could also feature after overcoming a calf injury.
Crystal Palace will be without midfielder Neil Danns, who was sent off in Monday's draw with West Brom.
Nick Carle could replace Danns, while manager Paul Hart may again deploy Calvin Andrew as a lone striker, with Alan Lee likely to begin on the bench.
Relegation deciders are always ripe for hyperbole, but such are the financial problems at Crystal Palace, Sunday's game must rank as one of the most important in the club's 105-year history.
Defeat at Hillsborough would not only relegate Paul Hart's side from the Championship, it would leave the cash-strapped club's future in real doubt. There are many neutrals sympathetic towards Palace's plight, but Sheffield Wednesday chairman Lee Strafford says the Eagles deserve to be relegated as a result of going into administration.
Wednesday, who must win to stay up, have themselves struggled with a £25m debt for the past decade without resorting to what Strafford calls the "escape route" of administration.
The Eagles, who missed the chance to secure their Championship status by drawing with West Brom on Monday, will take confidence from their excellent away record this season, which has seen them lose only five of 22 league games on the road. Too many of those matches have finished all square (11), but another stalemate on Sunday would be just the ticket.
Head-to-head
• Crystal Palace have only lost one of their last six league and cup games against Sheffield Wednesday, including a 2-1 victory at Hillsborough in an FA Cup third round tie in January.
• The Eagles have failed to win on their last five league trips to Hillsborough, although they have drawn three of those games.
• Palace's last league win away to the Owls was on 2 February 2002, when Clinton Morrison opened the scoring in a 3-1 win.

Sheffield Wednesday
• The Owls' 2-1 win against Watford in March is their only victory in their last 11 league games.
• Alan Irvine's side have failed to win their last six matches, taking three points from a possible 18.
• They have lost nine home league games this season - only Palace and relegated duo Peterborough and Plymouth have worse records.
• Wednesday have struggled for goals this season, netting 47 in 45 league matches. Swansea are the only side above the Owls with a worse record (the Welsh side have managed only 40).
Crystal Palace
• Palace have lost only one of their last six league games, taking nine points from a possible 18.
• The Eagles have the fifth best away record in the Championship, having lost only five of 22 games away from Selhurst Park. Only Newcastle, West Brom, Cardiff and Leicester have picked up more points on their travels.
• Paul Hart's side have not kept a clean sheet in their last 10 league games. Their last shut-out was against Barnsley on 13 March.
