Hearts came from behind to consign Hibernian to a sixth straight Scottish Premier League defeat.
Laryea Kingston smacked the frame of the Hibs goal with a powerful drive during an open first half.
The hosts were awarded a controversial penalty after the break, from which Anthony Stokes converted on 55 minutes.
But substitute Suso lifted a shot into the net to level and David Obua tapped home an 89th-minute winner following a an error by goalkeeper Graeme Smith.
Hibs remain fifth, a point behind Motherwell, who face Celtic later in the day and sixth-placed Hearts are now three behind their Edinburgh rivals going into the final two rounds of fixtures.
Finishing fourth will guarantee a Europa League place, while fifth will also secure a passage into Europe if Dundee United win the Scottish Cup.
The visitors, who left recently deposed captain Michael Stewart out of their matchday squad, were first to threaten when David Templeton's near-post strike was beaten out for a corner by Smith.
Smith's endeavours were matched by his opposite number minutes later as Jamie MacDonald reacted well to palm out Derek Riordan's placed shot after the forward had been found in the box by Colin Nish's intelligent pass.
A dangerous free-kick by Kingston was almost touched into the net by the foot of David Obua.

Paul Hanlon was allowed space in the Hearts box and headed wide from Liam Miller's cross when a shot may have caused the visitors more problems.
The match continued to swing from end to with Kingston collecting the ball 25 yards from goal and blasting a shot against the post and Hearts were then unable to profit from a teasing Templeton centre.
More set-up play by Nish laid on a shooting chance for John Rankin and the midfielder's stinging drive was met by a diving save by MacDonald.
The first half petered out but the game burst to life again shortly after the break as Hibs were awarded their penalty.
Rankin burst into the box and went to ground as he was challenged by Marius Zaliukas and referee Dougie MacDonald pointed to the spot. However, television replays showed that Zaliukas had made little, if any, contact with the Hibs man.
After Hearts' protests fell on deaf ears, Stokes stroked home the penalty with composure.
Calum Elliot and then Suso were sent off the bench for Gary Glen and Ryan Stevenson respectively as Hearts pressed for parity.
And both substitutes played their part in the equaliser as Elliot chased Obua's headed flick-on into the penalty area.
Keeper Smith came off his line as Hanlon cleared to the edge of the box and Suso chipped the ball into the unguarded net.
And the dramatic turnaround was completed in the closing stages as Smith failed to gather Templeton's inswinging cross and Obua was on-hand to apply the finishing touch at the back post.
