1045: Ooh and there's another Brit pounding the clay as we speak. Ashley Hewitt is up and running in the boy's singles. The 18-year-old from Bath has exchanged two breaks of serve with Austrian eight seed Dominic Thiem and they're currently locked at 5-5 in the opener.

1042: Everyone's favourite British doubles pair - Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski - are also out on the red stuff this morning, Court Seven to be precise. They're going with serve against fourth seeds Wesley Moodie and Dick Norman.

It's raining
Twitter
BBC Sport's Piers Newbery tweeting from Roland Garros: "It's umbrella time, although that doesn't mean much after last night."

1038: So, to the action. Dementieva's already a break up on qualifier Scheepers and serving for a 5-1 lead, while Kirilenko and Schiavone are going with serve. But is that rain I can see?

Twitter
Jamie Murray on Twitter: "Andy plays 4th on Lenglen today. Liking his chances but Berdych isn't afraid of a scalp!"

1030: And you know the drill with the Red Button... send a question or comment for the commentary team (Sam Smith and Mark Petchey at present) to 81111 (UK) or +44 7786200666, or tweet me and I'll pass it on.

1025: I trust you'll be following ALL the action live Online or via the BBC Red Button. First up is Kirilenko-Schiavone and then it's over to Chatrier for the conclusion of Henin-Shara. We'll stay on the main court for Venus-Petrova and Federer-Wawrinka. Later on the cameras will switch back to Lenglen for Murray's big match.

1020: As the scoreboards around Roland Garros begin ticking over, let's take a look the action we'll be feasting over as the day unfolds. Following Dementieva on Chatrier, it's the resumption of Henin-Sharapova and I know you don't wanna miss that. That precedes Venus-Petrova and after them we've got Federer-Wawrinka. Lenglen kicks off with Kirilenko and then Wozniacki before the big guns come out to play: Cilic-Soderling followed by Murray-Berdych. Wowzers.

Coach and commentator Brad Gilbert on Twitter: "Four real good matches on the men's side today. Hope the weather holds up - it has been five days in a row with some rain, what up with that? One set to go with Shazza an Henin - this will shape the ladies draw big time, love the way Shazza competes out there."

1015: As the scoreboards around Roland Garros begin ticking over, let's take a look the action we'll be feasting over as the day unfolds. Wowzers.

Twitter
BBC Sport's Piers Newbery tweeting from Roland Garros: "In an interesting reversal of yesterday, today we can expect early rain clearing this afternoon. Gloomy but dry now. Murray at 4pm-ish UK? It's another chilly start on Chatrier as Dementieva & Scheepers knock up but today I'm prepared. Wrapped up warm with more layers available."

1000: Elena Dementieva against Chanelle Scheepers and Maria Kirilenko versus Francesca Schiavone - not exactly the most riveting way to get day eight of the French Open up and running. But don't be fooled by the starter, people, because today's options for your main course and desert are truly mouth-watering.
