If you are a frequent camper, you are well aware of the expenses that can mount when purchasing camping supplies. While some of your supplies can last you quite a long time, others, like food and disposable flatware must be purchased every time you go camping. You can, however, save money on these purchases which can also lead to more weekends away with the family enjoying the tgreat outdoors.

Look for sales. If you camp during the summer, check your local supply stores for sales during off-season. Depending on where you live, winter may not be a prime time for camping. Then again, you may know several people who love camping in the winter. Still, you are more likely to see tents pitched in some places during the summer. Because of this, you may find it easy to save money on supplies for the coming summer during the winter. Take advantage of any sales you may find. Remember, you will always be able to find a use for the supplies you purchase. If you love camping, they will never go to waste.

Shop via the Internet. There are many camping supply websites that offer great deals. You may even be able to buy some items in bulk, depending on what they are and how frequently you’ll need them. Again, take advantage of these special deals.

Use your camping supplies sparingly. This does not mean you shouldn’t always bring what you need, but if you have certain supplies left over from one trip, save them for the next.

Take great care of your camping gear. Store items such as grills and tents accordingly. The better care you take of these items, the longer they will last.

Clean all items upon returning from your trip. This means washing sleeping bags and blankets, making sure your tent is clean and thoroughly scrubbing down any cooking equipment you brought with you such as a grill or utensils. Cleaning these items will keep them in tip top shape and will insure they are ready the next time they need to be used. You may even want to perform this task before leaving the campsite, but it doesn’t hurt to give them a once over after you get home from your camping trip.

Store all camping supplies where they are easily accessible. This way you will have no problem finding everything you need the next time you want to go camping. This will also speed up the amount of time it takes to prepare for the trip.
