0943: On the plus side, Nicolas Mahut's reward for losing the longest match in tennis history is the
offer of a free holiday in Mauritius.
They'll have to drag him off Court 18 first.
0936: Just
reading the transcript of Nicolas Mahut's press conference
brings a tear your eye. It ends thus: "Q. But the body still felt good? Nicolas Mahut: (Tearing up)". Mahut returns to Court 18 (Court Isner-Mahut) for the fourth day in a row today as he and Arnaud Clement complete their first-round doubles match against British pair Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski. Under normal circumstances, I'd be cheering on the Brits, who won the first set before darkness fell last night, but in this case, I'm staying neutral. "I'm feeling great," said Mahut yesterday. "I just want to come back on Court 18 and win this time."
0923: If you have a bit of a rough day today, spare a thought for Nicolas Mahut. The forlorn Frenchman finally emerged to speak to the press at about 9.30pm last night - having returned to the scene of his devastating 70-68 fifth-set loss to John Isner for a doubles match. A truly remarkable effort. "This is a match I'll never forget," the 28-year-old said of his record-breaking defeat. "I hope the people who watched will think the same. At this moment, it's really painful." He's my
Overseas Sports Personality of the Year.

0909: Yes, yes, Roger Federer and Venus Williams play today, but here's the headline news: in just under three hours,
marathon man John Isner will drag his aching body over to Court Five
for his second-round match against Thiemo de Bakker. A little later on, Nicolas Mahut will return to Court 18 (which we're now calling Court Isner-Mahut) to complete a doubles match held over from last night against British pair Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski, AKA Flemski.
0900: No extra security, no helicopter overhead, no red carpet, no Nicolas Mahut on Court 18 (I checked on the way in, just in case). Things appear to be back to normal on this fine Friday at Wimbledon.
