Rossi is currently second in the championship behind Jorge Lorenzo

Reigning world champion Valentino Rossi could be a doubt for Sunday's Italian MotoGP after he crashed in practice on Saturday morning.

The Fiat Yamaha rider, who was fastest in Friday's practice session, suffered a suspected fractured right shin.

Coming into his home race at Mugello Rossi was second in the standings, nine points behind team-mate Jorge Lorenzo.

Rossi, 31, has already been hampered by a shoulder problem this season.
