Morgan played shots all around the wicket in a majestic innings
|
England captain Andrew Strauss was left in total admiration of Eoin Morgan after his sublime unbeaten 103 inspired a four-wicket victory over Australia.
"What a fantastic innings," Strauss said. "One of the best I have seen.
"He's playing an aggressive finishing role, causing headaches for opposition captains, and the great thing is he is doing it consistently.
"A lot of guys have got a nice level of consistency and it's a nice formula that's working well for us."
England take their 1-0 lead into the second of the five-match series at Cardiff on Thursday, and Strauss said: "We're not getting carried away but it's good to get the series off to a good start."

One of the simplest tasks of the evening was to name Morgan man-of-the-match and the 23-year-old said: "I've been in good nick for a while now and want to play more so I can take advantage of it.
"I've learned from mistakes, I try to keep things simple and it came off today."
Australia skipper Ricky Ponting warned: "A loss generally brings the best out of us.
"I thought we were 15-20 runs short with the bat and the bowling wasn't quite good enough.
"I thought [Josh] Hazlewood adapted pretty well [on debut] and Michael Clarke played very well but the way Morgan played they deserved to win the game."
