Jockey Tom Queally insists he would not swap his ride on Midday for any of the filly's rivals in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood on Saturday (1505 BST).

The four-year-old is aiming for back-to-back successes in the race after winning on softer conditions in 2009.

"Midday is a year stronger now and on her best form she will be the one they all have to beat," said Queally.

Knot In Wood heads trainer Richard Fahey's five-strong team as he targets a first Stewards' Cup (1540 BST).

However, Knot In Wood is burdened with top weight for the race.

Ascot winner Castles In The Air, Kaldoun Kingdom, Johannes and Prime Exhibit are Fahey's other contenders.

And north Yorkshire trainer Fahey stated: "They are all in good order. I don't know how Paul Hanagan picked one to be honest, but he's decided on Castles In The Air.

"Knot In Wood is a star and if he was to finally win it I'm sure no one would begrudge him, he keeps running well.

"Kaldoun Kingdom ran a blinder at York and he's gone up 4lb so if the handicapper has got it right he is well-in and must have a chance."

William Knight will rely on Palace Moon as the local trainer attempts to follow up his triumph with Illustrious Blue in Thursday's Goodwood Cup.

"He ran very well last time in the Bunbury Cup and I hope the track suits him, that would be my only concern," commented West Sussex trainer Knight.

"We've got a nice draw [20], he's in good order so I hope we have some luck."
